Pink Route- Boscombe to Hospital / Littledown with Throop and Charminster loop
Autumn is a great time to discover some choice park rides and this circuit shows you some of the best the area has to offer, the exact distances are shown on my Strava links, with more to read on the original Routes vs Queues posts. Photo above shows Kings Park, during a sunny Autumn day with Kings Park Primary kids on a ride I organised a few years ago.
This predominantly off-road circuit passes through two of the original Bournemouth parks Kings and Queens afterwards including the northern Throop village with its historic flour mill, circumnavigates the Castlepoint crush back up into Strouden woods and northern end of Charminster road. An ideal commuter route for hospital / J.P.Morgan staff and many more.
From the pier seafront after climbing to Boscombe cliff road and into Victorian woodland walk you cross Christchurch road and after a short section on Gloucester rd, into open parkland and Kings Park cycle tracks down into chaseside. First section here . Strava is a 4.8 Kilometre 15 minute ride here . Littledown centre is here as well as the hospital. Avoiding main roads the cycle tracks here lead well into minor roads past Townsend into Throop village, a super routes for newer riders who want to get into countryside in minutes which is detailed as a lovely 5.4 kilometre ride like this and is evidenced by a client on this post. Heading back into the conurbation on minor roads and the Castle lane west cycle route Phase 1 this leads back into Strouden fields, another charming preserved space. A short road section leads back into Queens park to complete the loop. Strava here
