Dimbleby Cancer Care Event
Dimbleby Cancer Care Walk50 2017 from robin on Vimeo. I was asked again to help a colleague from Orienteering with marshalling the June event 2017. An overnight walk around London for the Dimbleby Cancer Care charity, 50 KM in total which provided most with an overnight challenge with a difference. This weekend past was the big weekend, I marshalled a group of 5 entrants who asked for the ‘Fast’ paced walk which meant we left at 10.00 P.M, the last group to leave. Navigating the route which left St Thomas’ Waterloo to take in the western Thames to Hammersmith bridge, then over to Chelsea, Buckingham Palace, South Bank, St Pauls over through the city then the Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf, to then cross the Greenwich foot tunnel at the Eastern end finally coming back to Guys Hospital to finish! We were on good form and made the 4 pitstops in good time, for a short break and a Yoga stretch for me of course. Gaining 4 more people that had wanted to walk faster meant that the group reached the end at 0730 in the morning, a full 8.5 Hours epic walking. Third year of this challenge it was great to be involved and walk and talk with the founder of this charity Some friends have asked me how to donate which you can do for £5 by texting CAREOO5 to 70970. Do share this post to help a great cause that comes close to all of our lives.
