Festive Activities 2
Seeing as we’ve got some heavy weather coming, Indulging in a look at the festering activities I got up to and a couple of in advance items you may be interested in. My second visit to Lanzarote over Christmas, heavily indulgent I know, however the whole period in the U.K sickens me with the pressure of consumption on families. There are more and more riders and runners travelling to the Canaries and Spain to train and enjoy some mid winter sunshine. Pictures say a thousand words and between lots of sea swimming and resting I rode from Playa Blanca to La Santa, on what was actually about the scariest road ride ever- there was a tropical storm off Africa at this time and arriving at La Santa had total arm pump from holding the bike down on the road, have never felt more likely to have get blown off onto the volcanic rocks before. Side effect of this was the surf was amazing and people were flocking to ride these perfect tube waves caused by the strong offshore wind. Running up the Volcano above Playa Blanca Christmas day morning, shown here the fantastic trails up there, love that sort of running and would go back again no doubt. Theres also MTB trails on rock so if you like rock riding theres some good cycle hire shops and I would recommend it, tourism pitch over. Heres a new map, its the one for Queens Park in Bournemouth, the culmination of a years work getting permissions, map making and now installation of a Permanent Orienteering Course, the plaques arent up yet, but will be soon so you saw it here first. We look forward to setting up some activities here in the coming year watch this space and my Twitter feed for dates @jasonmfalconer Finally one more vision- heres a recent night training run from Meyrick Park, a fantastic circumference loop that will be my next area to map and provide trail running opportunities at. Give me a year for this one okay? Hope the winter weather wont get too severe where you are, try and make the most of it.
